child
sol was born and raised in a secluded forest bordered by lavender. he lived with his family at the edge of the lavender, and was training to become a shaman like his father, as shown by the purple bandage. in summer the forest was stiflingly humid, and the skies were constantly being ripped apart by storms. one evening sol left his family to collect herbs at the far end of the forest, and as usual, a storm was raging. deciding the lightning was too dangerous, he returned to his home. but lightning had struck the lavender, and it had been set alight. the forest was dry and littered with fallen leaves, and the fire ate it up. his family were burnt to death and sol watched, their screams mingling with the overwhelming scent of charred lavender
teenager
sol left the forest, and ran to the city. he lived alone for a year, starving, terrified and alone. he was found by an army officer and conscripted for the war. he left for a foreign land and fought for 3 years, his grief and fear sent him mad, and he ripped and tore at anything that would stain his muzzle with red. he was tattooed by a old soothsayer who recognised his madness for what it was. she told him she could not save him while he was living, but when he died, he would be made new. he killed her, but not before she tattooed the wings on his back. he fought on, suffering from disassociation while committing his violent acts, and waking up covered in blood and bent over with guilt. he eventually sustained a fatal wound, and although he could have been saved with proper medical attention, no one wanted to give it to him. he had killed his own as well as the enemy. so he died in agony, screaming about the lavender
adult
sol was raised and sent back to the world of the living. the king of the dream cave told him that the wings given to him in life would serve him in death. he was sent to protect a 9 year old girl, for although her life right now was untainted, she would need him later on. sol gained the trust of the girl, and she knew him as her 'spirit guide'. technically that term is correct, but sol was more of a imagined force to guard her when she was afraid. she would watch as he ran along side the bus that took her to school, or stood across her in the night when she woke up screaming from the flashbacks. in dreams he took her to moonlit fields and they sat by the river and tried not to think of their pasts. they ran across the stars and laughed cause it was cold up there, and they were so far away from everything.


personality
very intelligent, yet this brings more bad things than good. he thinks too much, remembers things to vividly and can be very bitter and cynical. he has a short temper and very little patience. he can come off as uncaring and harsh. he only cares for a select few, all others he is apathetic towards. he dislikes young children and animals, crowds, noise and pretty much anything that disturbs his sense of solitude.
